Psych is returning
September 20, 2006I mentioned before that I really like Psych, so I’m happy to see that it got renewed for a second season. I hope it holds up well in its continuation.
USA Psyched for Second Season of Psych – ComingSoon.net:
USA Network has placed a second season order for 16 episodes of its freshman hit, “Psych,” it was announced today by Jeff Wachtel, USA’s executive vice president, original programming. The one-hour series, starring James Roday, Dule Hill and Corbin Bernsen, is executive produced by Steve Franks (Big Daddy), in association with Tagline Pictures’ Kelly Kulchak and Chris Henze and NBC Universal Television Studio. This along with “The Dead Zone” joins the previously announced returns of original series “Monk” and “The 4400.”

Let your coworker know about their annoying habits!
September 18, 2006Ouch! This is just cold-hearted. I kinda like it.
At times we must read instructions and documentation. Try it sometime – you’ll be surprised how much time you save and you won’t suck up another coworker’s time – you illiterate cretin!

September 18, 2006White and Nerdy
September 18, 2006My wife is a much bigger Weird Al fan than I am, but this video is fantastic. Take all of the geekisms that have hit the internet over the years and roll them up into a music video. There are just too many references to mention.
Update: The RIAA requested that the video be removed from YouTube. Don’t steal music, kids.
Update 2: Its back.

Bloodsport Mentos
September 13, 2006Bloodsport is one of the finest movies from the Jean-Claude van Damme era. As it turns out, it also makes a perfect Mentos commercial as well. This reminds me of the Foo Fighters’ “Big Me” video in a lot of ways. Footos rock!

New iTunes, Microsoft style
September 12, 2006Apple release a slew of things today. iTunes 7 includes several new features, including Coverflow. Apple bought Coverflow and integrated it into the iTunes interface, which is a very nice touch. Combined with the new cover art download feature, it is a great way to browse your library.
All in all, it is a fantastic upgrade. The new download interface, combined with the new sidebar and iPod interface makes a great user experience even better. Go get your download going!

Its not mine, baby Penis-pump driver crashes into bus | The Register
September 12, 2006I am absolutely speechless, so I’ll let Austin Powers do the talking.

Why you should have a laptop – Dancing with the Stars edition
September 12, 2006Having a laptop is very important. It is invaluable while your significant other is watching Dancing with the Stars. For instance, I’m posting this message instead of watching Joey Lawrence do the foxtrot. I think I will stop long enough to watch Jerry Springer make a complete fool of himself, but if Tucker Carlson tries to show me more chest hair, I’ll quit trying altogether.

Justice
September 11, 2006We’ve been watching our new shows as they come out. First up for us is Justice, a new show on CBS starring Victor Garber, most recently of Alias. Justice is the story of a high-powered law firm that takes the highest-profile criminal cases in LA.
There are several things I like about the show. First, the trial phase from the defense point of view is not something that is shown often on TV. The last good instance I can think of is “Murder One”. Justice is still handled in an epoisodic fashion, so there is no carry over from week to week.
At the end of each episode, there is a clip of the real murder. It shows, in complete detail, what caused the death that sparked the trial, leaving no uneasy feeling that normally comes at the end of a crime-drama. For me, this makes the show rewarding to watch, since I’m usually guessing what really happened anyway.
I have no real complaints, so consider Justice highly recommended.

Codd’s 12 Rules For The Relational Model
September 11, 2006E.F. Codd developed the relational database model while he worked for IBM in the 70’s. I’m still scarred by his 12 rules after I wrote a 27 page paper about them when I was in college. Noooooooo!
